I can relate---when I lived in Ventura and worked in Burbank I used to drive fast on the drive home. One day a Mustang came up behind me and was tailgating me (I had a Lincoln Mark VII) and we were up to 110 when I realized he was a nut about to ram me so I called 911 and was on the phone with them trying to get them to send the police. After she asked me what exit I had passed she put me on hold and 30 seconds later she told me to take the next exit----it WAS the police behind me. Thank god I called 911 because those cops looked like rabid dogs when I took the exit and they looked very dissapointed that they couldn't give me a ticket beyond the initial speeding that was later dismissed when I argued it was because of the officer tailgating me.
